NHS Band 2 — Fillings and Extractions

Everything in Band 1 plus fillings, root canal work and teeth removal.

Modern tooth-coloured fillings restore a damaged tooth quietly — matched to the shade of your own enamel and bonded to the tooth, so the repair supports what is left rather than simply plugging a hole. Done carefully, a white filling should disappear into your smile and feel like your own tooth again.

01

Diagnose and agree

The tooth is assessed, the size of the repair explained, and the options — including doing nothing — discussed with fees before anything begins.

02

Prepare gently

The decayed or broken part is removed under local anaesthetic, preserving as much healthy tooth as possible.

03

Layer and shape

The filling is built in thin layers, shade-matched, shaped to your bite and polished so it feels smooth to the tongue.

Good to know

A very large cavity sometimes needs more than a filling can honestly offer — in that case an onlay or crown is discussed openly rather than placing a filling that is likely to fail early.
